Illinois Highway Ends

I-290

Interstate 290 I-290 is the Eisenhower Expressway and its extension up to the Northwest Tollway in Schaumburg. Originally, the Eisenhower Expressway was the Congress Expressway, but that pre-dates the I-290 designation. The Ike goes due west out of the loop to the Tri-State Tollway before veering northwest and North. It was commissioned in the early 1970s. Prior to then, I-90 was routed on the Eisenhower Expy.
