I-94

Interstate 94 I-94 goes from the Wisconsin line by Wadsworth to the Indiana line in Lansing. I-94 travels over all or parts of the Tri-State Tollway, the Edens Expressway, the Kennedy Expressway, the Dan Ryan Expressway, the Bishop Ford Freeway, and the Kingery Expressway. The entire length carries a large volume of traffic. The southern (oficially eastern) part through Cook County is free of tolls so it serves as an attractive alternative to the Skyway or Tristate Tollway. In Lake County, I-94 is the Tristate Tollway, but there is no toll-free high speed alternate route. As noted, I-94 is officially an east-west route, but for 95% of the route in Illinois it goes north and south. The reasoning is that it connects the Twin Cities, Milwaukee, Chicago, and Detroit, but that seems a bit contrived as the US east-west US routes through Chicago never went through Milwaukee. Logically, an I-55, I-57, or I-65 designation for its route would make more sense in Illinois. I-94 begins in Billings, Montana and ends at Port Huron Michigan at the Canadian border. It goes through seven states.
