Illinois Highway Ends

I-90

Interstate 90 I-90 goes from South Beloit at the Wisconsin Line to the Indiana line in southeast Chicago. I-90 goes over the entire lengths of the Northwest Tollway, the Kennedy Expressway, and the Chicago Skyway (operated by Cintra-Macquarie). It also runs on the Dan Ryan Expressway for some distance. Until the 1970s, it followed the Eisenhower Expressway instead of the Kennedy, but that was prior to the completion of the current I-290 freeway. Because it passes by the Schaumburg/Woodfield Mall area, O'Hare Airport, and the Chicago Loop so it is a very major highway. The first stretch of I-90 in Illinois was the completed in 1958 when the Chicago Skyway opened, but this section was first part of I-94. I-90 and I-94 routes in south Chicagoland were swapped in the mid-1960s. By the early 1960s, the entire current route of I-90 in Illinois had been built. I-90 is the longest Interstate highway going from Seattle Washington to Boston, Massachusetts and going through 12 states.
