Illinois Highway Ends

I-80

Interstate 80 I-80 enters Illinois at the Missisppi River in the Quad Cities, crosses the state, and exits into Indiana at Lansing. Although passing through the southern part of Chicagoland, it doesn't pass through the city of Chicago itself. Hence, it doesn't carry quite the volume of other Interstate routes in the area. Nonetheless, especially the part of I-80 on the Tristate Tollway and Kingerery Expressway is very busy. These sections are being widened to 8 lanes. The part from I-55 to I-294 also has a high traffic volume. I-80 is a major east-west route, and no part of it is lightly used. I-80 connects San Francisco with Ridgefield Park, New Jersey (i.e New York City). It passes through 11 states.
