Illinois Highway Ends

I-57

Interstate 57 I-57, the longest Interstate in Illinois, starts in Chicago's south side at I-94 and traverses the state southward to near Cairo. In the process it passes through Champaign and several mid-sized cities in the southern part of the state. Because it passes through so few large cities, it isn't as busy as I-55 to the west or I-65 to the east. Even in Chicagoland, because its distance is short there, it is not as major as most other freeways. Nevertheless, it is part of the connection of I-24 and St. Louis so a large stretch of the southern part is quite busy. I-57 ends at I-55 in Sikeston, Missouri which is only 23 miles from the Illinois line.

Interstate 57
