US 45US 45 runs the height of the eastern part of the state from Wisconsin (near Kenosha) to Kentucky (Paducah) covering over 400 miles. The majority of the route closely parallels Interstate routes (I-94, I-294, I-57) so it is not as major as it once was.US 45 has been in Illinois since 1926 replacing the old Illinois 25 route as well as part of Illinois 1. In 1934 part of Illinois 21 from the northwest Chicago suburbs north to the Wisconsin line became US 45. US 45 goes between Ontonagon, Michigan and Mobile, Alabama passing through seven states. |
