US 30US 30 goes from Fulton near Clinton, Iowa to the Indiana line at Lynwood (Illinois). While both the western (from the Mississippi River to Sterling) and the eastern portions (from Aurora to the Indiana line) generally follow the original route, the part in the middle follows a different routing than the historical one. This middle part took over old Illinois 6 from Sterling to St. Charles and old route 22 from St. Charles to Aurora.US 30 is one of the original US Highways, and came into being in 1926. US 30 in Illinois is part of the coast to coast highway that extends from Atlantic City, New Jersey to Astoria, Oregon passing through ten states. Many parts of the current US 30 were once parts of the Lincoln Highway. |
