Illinois State Route 49

Illinois route 49 runs Ashkum (south of Kankakee) south to to Willow Hill (just south of route 33) in flat and sparsely populated eastern Illinois. Originally, it extended north to the southern suburbs of Chicagoland following primarily the route of current Illinois 50.
