Illinois State Route 40Illinois 40 goes from Mt. Carroll in northwestern Illinois down to East Peoria via Sterling and Peoria. Illinois 40 replaced the route of Illinois 88 which was renumbered when I-88 came into being in Illinois in the 1980s. In the 1930s, Illinois 40 existed as the part of current route 40 from Mt. Carroll to Sterling. |
