Old State Road 4
Old SR 4 was one of the original Main Market Highways designated by the state highway commission in 1917. Originally, it went from Evansville to Lawrenceburg via Jasper, French Lick, and Seymour, but the routing changed by the 1920s. Then, old state road 4 went from Shoals east to Lawrenceburg. It generally followed the current US 50 route. Another discontiguous section went from Sullivan to Bloomfield following current route of SR 54. In 1926, US 50 came into being and took over the majority of the route. |
