Interstate 294This number existed in Indiana when I-94 switched over to the Indiana Toll Road at what's now Exit 15; since all even numbered interstates were supposed to meet with the original road in two places, I-94 was triplexed over what was then I-80 and I-90. When they switched I-90 and I-94 between the state line and I-80/I-94's Exit 15, I-294 was cut back to its meeting with I-80/I-94/Ill 394 in Illinois. There was a proposal by Indiana to extend I-294 from its present southern endpoint over the Borman expressway to Cline Road, then north and west over present-day Indiana 912 to its present endpoint. That idea was shot down by the federal government. |
