Interstate 74In Indiana, I-74 was the first Interstate highway completed though the state. The final section was opened in 1967. Except for Indianapolis, I-74 avoids the any of the largest cities in the state. In fact, around Indianpolis, it multiplexes with I-465, not even having its own dedicated roadway. It is not nearly as heavily used as I-70 through the state for obvious reasons.I-74 runs between Cincinnati and The Quad Cities area (Illinois/Iowa) via Peoria, Champaign, and Indianapolis. A stretch of I-74 in North Carolina has yet to be connected to the original main road ending in Cincinnati. |
