US 36

US 36 spans the the state going through the center part. It is quite busy ay many points, but is not a major intercity route. Rather, its primary importance is as a major thoroughfare connecting outlying suburbs if Indianapolis such as Pendleton, Lawrence, Avon, and Danville. Around Indianapolis, it multiplexes with the south part of I-465 from Pendleton Pike to Rockville Road.

US 36 was one of the original US highways. Its eastern terminus was originally in Indianapolis, but in 1932 it was extended into Ohio.
