Indiana Highway Ends

US 35 US 35 enters Indiana from Ohio in Richmond with I-70. Although signed as an east-west road in Ohio, Indiana marks it as a north-south route. In reality, it is about a 45 degree angle from Richmond to Michigan City. Except for the portion of US 35 north of Kokomo, it is multiplexed much of the route with highways such as I-70, I-69, SR 67, SR 28, SR 22, and US 31. US 35 is generally a two lane highway. Main exceptions are the Interstate Highway concurrencies, but also sections around Muncie, Kokomo, Knox, Laporte, and Michigan City are multi-lane roads. Impending construction in Kokomo will soon alter the route to follow the new US 31 freeway there. Also, it will follow a new roadway where it meets this freeway at CR 400N. US 35 has been in Indiana since 1934. It replaced large portions of SR 21 and SR 29 when it came into being then. The road between Kokomo and Logansport was to have been SR 17, but became US 35.
