State Road 912

SR 912 or Cline Avenue is another strange bird of a route. It is all expressway except for the portion south of I-94; the signage is spotty (better off the road than on), the interchanges almost bizarre and the scenery is an ugly mix of rusting old steel plants, petroleum storage structures and low-rise projects that are as bad as they look. The scenery south of US 12 can almost be considered worth viewing IF you're willing to overlook the random industrial and post-industrial buildings along the route, and those of you riding SUV's, full size trucks or Semis will find some interesting views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago Skyline over the nearby ugliness.

The road itself also seems to be haunted. Stories of a La Llorna-type woman haunt Cline Avenue, and in 1982 twelve men died when three bridge sections near Riley Road fell during construction. In memory of those injured, the east-west portion of Indiana 912 is called the Highway Workers Memorial Highway.
