State Road 343SR 343 is a decommissioned road that connected Cloverdale with SR 243 in Putnam County. The construction of I-70 made this state road unnecessary. The locals called SR 343 Burma Road, and still do. In the town limits of Cloverdale it is known as Robert L. Weist Ave., named after a popular Cloverdale business man who died in the 1970s. Outside the town, it is CR 1000S. The county let the road fall into disrepair after it was decomissioned by the state, but finally improved it by straighenting some curves, shaving off some "tickle bumps", and paving it nicely (background provided by Jon P. McKamey). |
