State Road 101State Road 101 is a discontinuous route consisting of four sections. The upper and middle portions of SR 101 lie approximately where SR 1 would have gone were it not for US 27 nearby. The southern portion was originally an isolated portion of Indiana 1, but when they decided to direct Indiana 1 to Lawrenceburg, SR 101 was assigned to that section of highway. The Ohio River section consists of less than a mile approaching the bridge over the Ohio River at Markland Dam. This section connects with Kentucky 1039 which goes by the Kentucky Speedway only a few miles south of the Indiana line.SR 101 is the only state road with four distinct sections. The Ohio River section would more logically be numbered SR 129, however. |
