State Road 66SR 66 is a road with several different characters in southern Indiana. It generally is an indirect road with numerous jogs going from New Harmony at the Illinois state line (connecting Illinois route 14) to US 150 northeast of Marengo. For many miles, SR 66 is a winding road that generally follows the Ohio River coinciding with the Ohio River Scenic Byway, but in the greater Evansville area, SR 66 is a major divided highway that is part of the Lloyd Expressway. For many miles from Warrick to Posey counties, the road is four to six lanes and is divided. The part from US 41 to US 231 is part of the National Highway System. West of Evansville, SR 66 ends up in the quaint and historic town of New Harmony on the Wabash River where a toll bridge to Illinois marks the end of the route. |
